Wetland Creation Grant Scheme now open!

Wetlands are a vital habitat for wildlife and can improve water quality, reduce flood risks and provide opportunities for education and recreation.

The Evenlode Catchment Partnership has set up a scheme to help farmers, landowners and communities within the Evenlode catchment create wetland habitat on their holdings.

The scheme is now open for applications.

A healthier river environment for all

Since 2014, the Evenlode Catchment Partnership (ECP) has been dedicated to improving water quality, enhancing biodiversity, and managing flood risks while increasing climate resilience across the Evenlode catchment area. Our mission is to create a thriving, sustainable water environment that benefits both wildlife and local communities.

The impact we are making together

2700+ water samples tested

6+ hectares wetland created

Over 3000 young people engaged in 3 years

75,000 m3 water stored through natural flood management projects

How the catchment looks now

Within living memory, the Evenlode waters used to be teaming with life and crystal clear throughout the entire catchment. Now, water-crowfoot is rare to find and the waters are brown, murky and instead of flowers, sewage fungus is thriving…
