The Big Give’s Earth Raise has closed and our generous supporters have helped to raise £20,617 for the ECP! This surpassed our target of £20,000 and ensured that we received the maximum amount of available match funding. A huge thank you our donors and to The Garfield Weston Foundation for kindly matching our donations to help us reach our funding target. These funds will support our efforts to restore vital water habitats, create new wildlife havens, and protect our rivers for future generations.

As part of this year’s Big Give campaign, the ECP hosted a Q&A session with WASP to give locals the chance to ask questions about the recently released Channel 4 docuseries ‘Dirty Business’. Around 100 residents, including Bake Off star Prue Leith, attended the event hosted at the New Beaconsfield Hall in Shipton-under-Wychwood.

After local author CM Taylor read from his new book ‘Floaters’, the WASP team were quizzed on a range of topics including planning, withholding water bill payments, sewage data, health risks, and how to become more involved in the fight for clean water. The evening generated an interesting and thought-provoking discussion about our rivers, so thank you to the public for asking insightful questions and thank you to WASP for your honest answers! We were delighted at the turn out of this event, and we hope to see some familiar faces joining us at future events to support our mission to fight against sewage pollution and bringing back healthy rivers.

To continue our important work and maintain the momentum of our ambitious programme in the Evenlode Catchment, we are seeking to widen our funding base. We must secure funding for the 2027 – 2030 Action Plan so that staff can continue to deliver projects across the river catchment such as Natural Flood Management, River Restoration, and Wetland Creation. If you would like to become a funder, either click the ‘donate’ button at the top of the page or email the ECP Project Manager Ann Berkeley (ann@wildoxfordshire.org.uk). All support is hugely appreciated.
