The Evenlode Catchment Partnership (ECP) has won a prestigious Award of Merit from The Best Shorts Film Competition. The award was given for the ECP’s important short documentary “A River Sings” which aims to increase awareness of natural flood management and river restoration projects and their ability to solve flooding issues, improve water quality and have massive benefits for wildlife. A River Sings features the exceptional work being done at four different estates in the Evenlode catchment in Oxfordshire.

β€œIt is quite incredible what the ECP has been able to achieve and it has been an absolute privilege to see it first hand and help bring this to the attention of a wider audience” said the film’s director, Nicola Schafer. “We hope it can encourage more landowners to implement these techniques on their land.”

“It’s been great working with such willing and compassionate landowners to reduce flood risk to the villages in the catchment” said Ann Berkeley, who commissioned the film. “It is so upsetting to hear the harrowing experiences of those affected by flooding. There is still much more we can do and I hope this film will encourage more landowners to come forward to explore what they can do to help.”
